Repairs
When a serious problem occurs with your air conditioner, it’s most likely being caused by problems with the compressor or the condenser. The compressor sends cooled air into the ducts to be distributed throughout your home. Anything that restricts the airflow in your ducts will make it more difficult for your compressor to function, and that will raise your energy costs. The condenser removes hot air from your home. If you place your hand near the condenser, you should be able to feel hot air coming out. If you cannot, you have a problem.
Any problems with either of these components will cause any number of different issues with the cooling system. If you notice problems with your compressor or condenser, call us immediately before a more serious problem develops.
Maintenance
Having your home’s air conditioner serviced regularly is the best way to ensure that the system doesn’t develop serious and unexpected problems. A well-maintained air conditioner will develop fewer problems, and it will be more energy efficient.
Some of the maintenance that air conditioners need will have to be performed by a professional air conditioning contractor, and we recommend that your AC unit have a professional tune-up at least once a year. It’s usually best to have this done in the spring, just before you start needing to use it heavily for the hot summer months.
There are some things you can do yourself, like changing or cleaning your filters regularly and removing light blockage from your air ducts.
